In these days of High Tech, just about everyone has a mobile phone, most with cameras.
It is often the case that the parties to a collision will dispute how it is that the collision came about. Each will vigorously stick to their own version. Such is the nature of the human ego – to adhere to what it believes.
It is essential that drivers involved in an accident take pictures of the vehicles at the scene of an accident, and the immediate area around the scene of the accident, as this can make or break their case. Even if this doesn’t occur at the scene, often pictures of the damage caused to your vehicle, will be helpful in determining how a collision has occurred. Further, photographing licence details (front and back) and the registration plate of the other vehicle will greatly assist you if the other party proves difficult.
Whilst human recollection can be muddled, pictures tell the whole truth, and nothin’ but the truth!
For example, if the third party alleges you drove into his vehicle, yet your car only has damage on its side, it seems a little difficult to accept what the other driver might be saying.
Likewise, if debris remaining on the road clearly shows that the other vehicle was on the wrong side of the road, this too, must point to the version of the cab driver being preferred.
Courts will rely on this sort of independent evidence if there is conflict as to the versions.
